Longevity Coaching® = Optimal Medical and Disease Management + Financial Planning + Diet
not Dieting + Supplements and Hormones + Exercise + Dis-Stress
Reduction + Spirituality
Longevity is about quantity (years in your life) and quality (life in your years). Coaching produces the best possible results based on who you are as an individual, both physically and mentally.
Longevity Coaching® uses proven methods to improve your quality and quantity by harnessing your strengths while neutralizing your weaknesses.
Who is a candidate for Longevity Coaching®? Anyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of better health in both the short and long term. 50, 60, 70? Good, very good. 40? Better.
30? Best. Why? Because we are like Supertankers, we need a lot of space and a lot of time to change direction, and the slower we can change direction, the less energy we need to expend over time to do it. But age has its benefits. One is motivation. As we age we are more likely to be able to see the direction we are heading and to want to change it. If we only knew how.
In 1965 I started on my personal voyage of self-discovery involving, at that time, supplements, exercise and spirituality. In the summer of 1968, my brother and I with our mutual best friend flew to London, England, bought 10 speed Holdsworth touring bicycles, and spent 4 months cycling 15,000 kilometers around most of Europe. For the first time in my life I was incredibly fit! I’ve never forgotten that feeling, and it started me on a quest to understand the human body, in all its strengths and weaknesses.
Along the way I finished my degree in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Waterloo, finished Medical School at the University of Toronto. Off to do my Internship in Vancouver, B.C. then seven years in Family Practice in “the lower mainland” and then Penticton, B.C.
After a Residency in Emergency Medicine at McGill in Montreal, my future wife and I moved to Los Angeles. (Ed. Note: To this day, I believe that the best thing that happened to me in Montreal was meeting Susan.)
Now, with over 25 years in Emergency Medicine, having evaluated over 100,000 patients, I’ve learned from my patients a tremendous number of ways to “do it wrong”. This has started me on my quest to “do it right”.
The final piece of the puzzle fell into place during my MBA in Healthcare at UC Irvine. It has taken me the last 7 years to articulate the concepts behind Longevity Coaching: Optimal
Medical and Disease Management; Financial Planning; Diet
not Dieting; Supplements and Hormones; Exercise; Dis-Stress
Reduction; and Spirituality.
Whether you want to live longer, or just live better, you can do it. You may even know what you need to do to achieve longevity. It’s doing it that is hard! Developing patterns of eating, exercising, reducing stress, improving your mental outlook are necessary to embed the change process into your daily life, and for you to stop trying, and start doing…
